My "Go To" Layout ...

Here we are again ... with my "go to" layout. I love, love, love this layout for quick, simple cards. The card base is 11" x 8", folded in half, to allow for the ribbon tab on the left. This is a great way to use up ribbon scraps. You know us paper crafters ....use every last bit of every last thing! haha!

My In-Laws are taking Jackie and I to New York City tomorrow for our birthdays!! Woohoo!! We are seeing a Christmas Show, going to the Wax Museum and then to my FIL's father's old neighborhood. We are so excited!! Except, of course, for the fact that we have to leave our house at 4:30AM!!! GULP!!!

Thanx so much for visiting! Hope to have some pics from NYC posted on Sunday.

What's In It?

Dude .... again?!?!

Edit: The "Dude" stamp actually says, "Dude That is So Cool". I stamped "Make a Wish" from a retired SU! set and used my Word Window Punch to punch it out. I then used dimensionals to pop it up over the "that is so cool" part of the sentiment. I do this all the time with this set. It allows me to customize the stamp for whatever I need!!

Hello! Yes, another DUDE card. This set (So Cool) is just perfect for teens and pre-teens! I grab it all the time when making cards for my kids' friends.

For this one, I embossed the "Dude" with Detail Black EP from Stampin' Up! I LOVE the detail EP. I also used my Creative Memories Circle Cutting System to cut the embossed "Dude" out. Love that thing, too!! The paper is from the Rock Star pack from DCWV Michael's. Gotta run! Any questions, just ask!

Thanx for visiting!!

Masculine Birthday

Hello! Please breathe deeply .... I know two posts in three days can be a bit overwhelming!! haha!

Whenever I am stuck or loose my mojo, this layout is my saving grace. It's clean and simple, something I can't always pull off. It can be adapted for any situation. Most importantly, you can create an adorable card in under 5 minutes!!This is also a great layout for using up scraps and tidbits of ribbon. The cupcake is from the Hostess Level 1 set called Bitty Basics. I leave this set on my stamping table b/c I grab it all the time. It's just one of those great sets that can be used for almost any occasion! This card uses Urban Garden and Bella Rose DSPs. LOVE them both!! Actually, I love all of the DSPs in SU!'s fall/winter 2008 catty!!

Thanx so much for visiting!

What's In It?

  • Paper: Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss, Urban Garden DSP, Bella Rose DSP

You're Invited....Dude!

Sorry I've been MIA.... again! Things have been busy, but I have some eye candy to post!

My friend/neighbor commissioned me to make some birthday party invites for her 12 year old step son, Mykee. He's a football player and our school colors are gold and black (Go Solanco Mules!!) Here's what I came up with....

Angela said that Mykee and his friends liked them. I guess that's a touch down for me! Woo Hoo!!

I also put together some treat bags as small birthday gifts for two co-workers. They were a big hit! I love these little "bags in a box" or whatever they are officially called. They are so easy to put together and a great way to acknowledge someone's special day! I filled these with candy. Yummy!!I don't have time to post recipes right, if you need to know something, shoot me an email. Thanx so much for visiting! I will try to post more regularly, I promise!!!

Soccer, Soccer, Soccer

Hello! Today's post is all about soccer! My son, Frankie, played varsity soccer for the middle school this year. He's in 8th grade. Frankie played soccer for one year back in the 4th grade. This was his triumphant return .... he was awarded Most Improved Player!! Go Frankie!! Below are the cards that I made for the coaches at the end of the season. Coach Rogan (Hi, John!) asked Frankie to go out for the team and I'm so glad that he did. Frankie has done great and has had a blast playing! We can't wait for next season!!
I'll be back later with the card ingredients and some pics of Frankie playing. Right now, I have to run to work.

Have a fabulous day! Thanx for visiting!!

Yearbook Tags

Hello! I am on the Yearbook Committee this year at Ryan's elementary school. One of my friends has been single-handedly (for the most part) taking care of this task for the past several years. I always wished that I would've joined the yearbook committee when I was in High School, so I decided to help out!

However, when I was in the school this week taking pictures, I was getting a few funny looks. You could just see the teachers thinking, "Who is this lady?" ..."Why is she taking pics of our kids?". I decided to create tags for Jodi and I to wear while snapping pics for the yearbook. These turned out so cute that I wanna run over to the school and snap some shots right now ...just to wear the tag! Yes, that's lame, I know! Here are the tags...

I hope to be back today with another post ...stay tuned! Thanx for visiting!!

Homecoming and Dreams

Hello! I'm back in the saddle ....I think ...whew!! At the risk of repeating myself's been crazy busy at our house. Soccer is over, but the banquet is this Wednesday. Homecoming weekend is over ...Jackie said the dance was "lame"!! She looked adorable, though. Well adorable is probably the wrong word. She looked stunning! Very grown up!! Here's a pic of her and Kyle. Aren't they a cute couple?!? And how cute is our cat, Shadow, in the background ....eyes aglow!?!?!

I created this card awhile ago. I love this set, Dreams du Jour, and this Bella Rose DSP. The Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon is also scrumptious!!
Hope you have a fabulous fall day! Thanx for visiting!!

Thank You Crew Kids Girl!!

As I mentioned yesterday, part of my gift to my niece Devon (her Momma, actually!) for her baptism was Thank You cards. Martine is such an awesome person and I'm so glad to have her as my SIL!! My brother, John, is a lucky, lucky man to have found her and her family!!

Back to the cards, sorry.....

Sunday morning, I was under the gun to get these thank you cards made. Yes, the morning of the baptism! Is there any other way?!?! As much as I love organization, I just work better under pressure ...always have. I have many of these Simply Scrappin' kits from SU! and never use them. Yes, I am also a hoarder. What good papercrafter isn't?!?! So, I grabbed the Crew Kids Girl kit and whipped out about 18 thank you cards in ...... 20 minutes!!! No lie!! I seriously threw these adorable cards together that fast! I was even amazed! You can bet that I'll be tearing into the rest of my kids real soon. Here's the whole group of them ....and then some of my favs by themselves.

My friend/neighbor's daughter, Ali, asked me to make some invitations for her birthday sleepover. Come back tomorrow to see what I whip up!!

Thanx for visiting!!

  • Ink: Basic Gray
  • Paper: Textured Basic Gray, Wild Wasabi, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White (All included in the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit)

Untraditional Baptism Card

Hello Everyone! We have been so, so busy, work, soccer, shopping for homecoming dresses, soccer, shopping for my 20th High School Reunion, soccer, my niece's baptism, get the picture, right!?!?! Haha!!

I decided to go with a non-conventional baptism card for Devon adorable niece who was just baptized yesterday...and who is two years old. She is a little fireball!! I love gray and pink for girlie card. When I saw this wheel ("Wonderful") a few years ago in the SU! Catty, I just had to have it. I think this is one of the first times I've used it!!! GULP! I stamped it in VersaMark and clear embossed it. Love how it turned out!! I rarely make cards this size, but will have to start doing more of them. They really look neat. The textured CS makes a big difference, too!!

Part of my gift was to make the Thank You cards for my SIL, Martine. Another thing I bought and just HAD TO HAVE was the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' kit. I have about 10 or 12 of these kits and never use them. It's sinful, really!!!! Being late and under pressure (my most common scenario!), I whipped this kit out and put together about 18 cards in 20 minutes!! Amazing!! Come back tomorrow to see how cute they turned out!

Thanx for visiting!!

What's in it?
  • Stamps: Wonderful Jumbo Wheel (retired SU!)
  • Paper: Textured Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette
  • Ink: VersaMark

A Tip on Tuesday!

Hey there! Unfortunately, I don't have a card to share today. I have been stamping my little heart out ...but can't share just yet! My MIL commissioned me to make some Christmas Cards for her to give to co-workers and I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone!!

I do have a little tip that helps me when I'm cutting cardstock. I write the measurements of the stamp on the side of the wood block. That saves me from measuring over and over again. It's the little things that make life easier, isn't it?!?! For me it is!

It's a gorgeous fall day here in Southeastern PA! Enjoy!! Thanx for visiting!!

Oh! Frankie's soccer team won their game last night in Lebanon! WOO HOO!! Go Mules!!

SC196 Be Yourself

Hello! Wow, it's been a crazy week here at the O'Connell household. Danny (aka Love of my Life) had his second sinus surgery on Thursday. Bleck!! He's starting to feel better. I HATE not being able to help ...aside from getting him a drink or a snack or a backrub! haha! I'm one of those, "I have to do something for you!!" types.

I managed to get one card stamped in the past 5 days. GULP! I had planned on stamping yesterday, but it just didn't happen. (insert sad face). I cased this card from SCS and can't find the picture in the gallery anymore?!? I hate when that happens ...I like to give credit where credit is due! I thought this was an adorable use for the Pick-a-Petal set. I'm sending it off to my friend's step-daughter who is in Basic Training. I've been trying to send a card a week, just so she gets some happy mail! It's gotta get lonely being away from home and friends/family for so long! Not to mention the strenuous exercise they put you through!!

Hope to have more luck stamping this week! Thanx for visiting!!

P.S. Frankie (my 13 yr old) was named Most Outstanding Player of the Game last Thursday. He got to wear the special jersey for the whole weekend. He's very proud!! And so are we!!

SC194 and CC186

This is the first time that I attempted to combine two SCS Challenges. Not sure I was successful, but here it is. I used the sketch challenge from a few weeks ago, SC194. I tend to have difficulty with these types of sketches due to the different blocks of DSP in the background. I need to figure out an easy way to measure them so that they work together. Anyone have any tips for measuring?

Today's challenge over at SCS was CC186 Really Chocolate Breezes ...sounds yummy, huh?!? Thank God for this Frost Day DSP from SU! I would've really floundered without this great paper today.

Sorry for yet another crummy picture. I didn't have time to play until this evening, plus it's raining here AGAIN in Lancaster County. Grrr!!

What's In It....
  • Stamps: Seasonal Icons (Hostess Level 3) and Snow Swirled (sentiment)
  • Paper: Baja Breeze, Really Rust, Choc Chip, Frosty Day DSP
  • Ink: Staz-On Timber Brown
  • Acc: Punches - 1.25" Circle and Scallop Circle; Dazzling Diamonds; Choc Chip Satin Ribbon (retired); Ice Rhinestone Brad; Foam Mounting Tape

Joy for Mom

Hello Everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!! We got a lot of rain here in Southeastern Pennsylvania ....BLAH!! I still managed to get a good bit done. My Mom turned 59 yesterday (09/28) and we had a small family celebration at our house. It was really nice to see everyone. We live about 1.5 hrs apart, so we don't see each other that often. Our little nieces, Kayla and Devon, are growing up so fast!!

Here's a small gift that I made for my Mom. I used one of those small 4 x 6 acrylic frames and dressed it up with some SU! DSP, ribbon, pearls and Ice rhinestone; some PTI stamps and a Heidi Swapp Ghost Shape Snowflake that I covered with Stickles.

This took me about 10 minutes to make and I love how it turned out!! It would have been nicer in a "for real" frame, but I didn't have any on hand when the mojo struck me! I'm sure that's happened to most of you before. You just have to create the project in your head when it strikes you .... even if you don't have all the supplies you originally imagined.

Here are some close ups of the pearls and the snowflake. Sorry they are a little bit blurry!!

I also made my Mom about 25 or 30 Christmas cards. Every time I have a Christmas Card SAS (Stamp-a-Stack), I make about 5 extra of each card. That way I had enough to give to my Mom and some for my own personal stash!! Woo Hoo!!

Thanx for visiting!

WT185 Charmed Smile ...

The challenge on SCS today is the *Ways to Use It* challenge. Julia challenged us to use charms on our creations ...and if we didn't have any, to make some! Well, believe it or not, I didn't have any charms in my entire craft room ... not a single one!! Shocking, I know! So, I pulled out some Polyshrink ....that SU! used to sell years ago.... and put it to use. It was my first time working with the Polyshrink, so I called on my bestest stampin' buddy LeAnne. After a few quick pointers, I was off and running, stamping! It was quick and easy and I'm hooked!! I stamped the little pumpkin from *Eat, Drink & Be Scary* in black Staz-On, punched it out with the curly label punch and heated it up. If you've never done this before, I can be a bit alarming! The plastic shrivels and curls and looks like you won't be able to use it. But at the last second, it flattens out!! Woohoo! LeAnne gave me a great tip.... when you're done heating the polyshrink, use the side of a wooden block to completely flatten the piece while it's still warm. This worked wonders! Thanx LeAnne!!

Sorry for the blurry photos... it's a crappy, overcast day here in southeastern PA. Can't get a good shot to save my life!!

Here's a side view of the card....

Gotta run to work the concession stand at our High School's soccer game. The parents of the Jr. High boys work during the High School games, so that the High School parents can watch their boys play. Works out nicely!! Go Mules!! (Yes, I said *Mules*... )

CC185 So Sweet

I finally completed a challenge this week!! Woo Hoo!! I am a day late, but hey ...better late than never, right?!? Here's my take on this week's Color Challenge over at Splitcoast... Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss. I used Inkadinkado's Birthday Cupcake set that I just picked up at Michael's on Monday. I LOVE this set!! I paper pieced the cupcake wrappers, added Dazzling Diamonds on the icing, Red Glitter on the cherry and Sakura Stardust pen on top of the other cupcakes. The DP is from SU! .. Urban Garden and Bella Rose. I also added some bling from Adorn It on either side of the sentiment.

Here's a picture of our fat cat, Shadow. She loves to lay by the sliding door when the sun is pouring in. She was rolling around while I took her picture ... just like a photo shoot for America's Next Top Model!! haha!!

Thanx for visiting!

No Stamping ...School Pics

Hello Everyone! I don't have anything new right now, but I will post again later. I plan to work on some challenges that I've missed this past week. Frankie doesn't have soccer tonight, so I should have some time to stamp. YEAH!!!

I wanted to share some pics of the first day of school. Every year we make a sign for the kids to hold up in pictures. At first they loved it ...creating the sign, holding it up, smiling big happy smiles. Then they got "too old" and hated it. Now they realize it's pretty cool to look back at the pics and the different signs. My DD, Jackie, is 16 (almost 17!) and she made most of this sign. Ryan, my DS who is 9, drew the stick figures that are hanging off and around all the letters and the ones at the bottom that represent our family. Too cute, huh?!?

This picture shows the older kids trying to wake Ryan up before they leave. Ryan can sleep for an hour longer and was not happy to be woken up!! From left to right: Frankie (13), Ryan (9), Kyle (16 and Jackie's boyfriend), Jackie (16).

Here they are out front. It was a beautiful day, weather-wise. Of course, what *First Day of School* isn't great for Mom?!?!?! Bwaahaha!!

Here is Ryan holding the sign. He's in Fourth Grade this year!!! GULP! My baby is growing up!!! He has a man teacher for the first time and is loving it.

I've been so blessed with my kids. They are kind, thoughtful, helpful, creative people and I love them with all my heart and soul!!

Thanx for visiting! Don't forget to check back later for some cards!!

Nothin' New...

Well, I don't have something new to show you. Like I said in previous posts, this week has been crazy. I really wanted to post something, since I get so bummed when I visit a blog that hasn't been updated for days and days!!

This card was stamped a couple of months ago as a thank you for a great friend of mine. LeAnne is my Stampin' Up! Grandmom ....which means she's my Upline's Upline. Confusing, I know! haha!! In any case, LeAnne has become such a great friend and is such an inspiration to me. You can see her fabulous work on her blog, Wee Inklings. I know you'll love her work!! She's got some fabulous Halloween treat bags posted today.

I cased this layout from the Fall-Winter IBC, page 96. The new catty is fabulous and a great place for inspiration.

I hope to get some stamping time in this weekend. We are having our quarterly meeting on Sunday and I haven't even started my swaps yet. GULP!! Our group is called *Wee Inkers*. Can you guess who came up with that name? haha! Yep, it's LeAnne. She always plans the best meetings and we all leave with many, many wonderful ideas. Not to mention great memories of friendship and stamping. Who could ask for more?!?! Well... KIDDING!!!

On a personal note, my 16 year old daughter, Jackie, got her license yesterday! Say it ain't so!!! She drove to her boyfriend's house all alone last night. Ahhhh!!!!!!! It was so hard to watch her pull out of the driveway. It choked me up!! To think that in two years she'll be off to college. I'm gonna miss her so much!!!!!!! Then I'll be the only girl in the house. SWEET MOTHER OF GOD, help me!!!

Have a great weekend!! Thanx for visiting!!

What's in it?

  • Ink: Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie

Christmas in September SAS

Hello Everyone! Things are still hectic (soccer, orthodontist, school, blah, blah, blah!), so I apologize for my lack of posts.

Monday night I held my third Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack (SAS) this year. We had a blast! Several neighbors came ...including one who is building a house right next to mine (Hey, Linda!)..some friends and my Aunt Kate. I was especially happy to see her, since she lives over an hour away and we don't see each other as often as I'd like. She's awesome!!

Well, I opened a bottle of wine and put out some Hershey's Kisses and Hugs ...needless to say, we laughed all night! And stamped!! Here are two of the cards we made:

  • Stamps: Snow Flurries, Small Script (both retired SU!)
  • Ink: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgandy
  • Paper: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgandy, Shimmery White, Vellum CS
  • Acc: White Organdy Ribbon (retired SU!), CB Textile EF, Dimensionals

  • Stamps: Cute & Curly
  • Ink: Old Olive, Riding Hood Red
  • Paper: Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Holiday Treasures DP
  • Acc: Choc. Chip Stain Ribbon (retired SU!), Curly Label Punch, Dimensionals

FS84 Merry Santa

I apologize for the lack of posts these past few days. Our schedule has been hectic practice/games, DeMolay activities, family birthday parties, preparing for my next Christmas Card SAS. Whew!!

I finally squeezed in some fun stamping time and participated in the Featured Stamper Challenge over at SCS. Liz ...aka LazyLizard ... is the FS84. Check out her gallery here. She has some truly amazing work. I didn't have much time, so I had to pick a fairly simple card to case. I chose this one.

The rules are to change at least two things. I changed the following:
  1. Colors (Riding Hood Red, Shimmery White, Basic Black)
  2. Stamp Set (Hero Arts)
  3. Ribbon (Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon)
  4. Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (I used the Textile folder)
Thanx for stopping by! Have a great week!

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

We had some new neighbors move in a few houses down .... about 2 months ago!! {insert red face} I'm taking some homemade banana bread over to introduce myself and say, "Welcome to the neighborhood!". I figure that it's better late than never, right?!?! Hope they do, too!

I used SU!'s new Bella Rose DSP to create a "belly band" around the tray of banana bread. Then stamped the Fresh Baked Just for You from PTI's Holiday Treats set. LOVE that set!! It's great year 'round!! The card stock (CS) is Riding Hood Red, Kraft and Very Vanilla. Ink used is Staz-On Timber Brown and Riding Hood Red.

Hope to have another post later on today ...for the SCS Sketch Challenge. Check back later tonight for details.

Have a great day!! It's gorgeous here in Southeastern PA! Thanx for visiting!!

FS83 Shoes Change Your Life!

Hello! This was my first Featured Stamper (FS) Challenge over at SCS....woohoo! Yes, I'm a day late. Nothing new for me. haha! The FS this week was Denise (aka card crazy on SCS). Check out Denise's gallery here. She has some incredible work!! I chose this card. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a shoe fanatic ...big time!!! I'm embarassed to say how many shoes I own. Although, in my defense, I wear them all on a regular basis. I just LOVE shoes ... always have... especially high heels. Love, love, love them!! You know what they say, "Vanity over sanity!!" haha!! So, when the new SU! Catty came out, I just had to get the new set called Humor in High Heels. It's a really cute set, with some great sentiments. I just wish that SU! would've used a sexier shoe ...instead of one that looks like it belongs to Minnie Mouse. Not that I don't adore Minnie, but you get my point right?!?

Anyway, the rules are to change at least two things about the card you decide to case. Here are my changes....
  1. I changed the colors.
  2. I changed the stamp set.
  3. I changed the layout, slightly.
I really like how this card turned out! Make sure you check out the FS83 Gallery for some other great cards. Thanx for stopping by!

  • Stamps: Humor in High Heels
  • Ink: Staz-On Black
  • Paper: Bashful Blue, Shimmery White, Brushed Silver, Basic Black, Summer Picnic DSP
  • Acc: White Taffeta Ribbon, Flat-backed Pearls from the Pretties Kit, Lg Oval Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Crystal Effects (on shoe), Sekura Stardust Pen (on "shine" marks above shoe and beads on corners of pillow)

Queen Bee Tammy

This card was made for one of my closest friends, Tammy. We've known each other for 20+ years now. Her birthday was on Wednesday, but I haven't gotten together with her yet. I made her two sets of note cards, as well. I hope to post them later on today. I also hope she doesn't check my blog today and blow the surprise!! haha!

I totally, completely cased this card from Taylor at Taylored Expressions. Tammy loves bumble bees and this card was just perfect, so I figured why change it?!?! The set is PTI's Honey Bee. The crown is embossed with Detail Silver EP. Sorry for the glare. We are being hit with torrential down pours and the lighting isn't great. I took the pic under my Ott light....LOVE that thing! I got it from with the 40% off coupon. I don't know how I stamped without it!!!!

If any of you have visited Taylor's blog (and who hasn't?!?), you know how amazing she is. She just started her own line of stamps, too! I believe they released yesterday. Check them out here... Stamp A Sweet Impression. They are adorable!! I can't wait to get my hands on the Trick or Sweet set. LOVE IT!!

Sorry for my lack of posts these past couple of days. My son, Frankie, is playing soccer for his middle school. He's in 8th grade this year. Where is the time going?!?! He was just moved up to Varsity and is doing great!! I'll have to post some pics when I get them loaded onto my PC. He plays the Striker position and loves it. We're very proud of him!! Go Solanco Mules!! (Yes, I said Mules. Who came up with that fabulous mascot?!?!)

Thanx for visiting!

My 1st Color Throwdown!

Sorry for the late post today. Thought I'd have more time to stamp such luck. Hate when that happens!! I don't really like this card, but since it's all I had time for today here it is! I love this set, just not loving the Regal Rose with this layout/color combo. I'm gonna try again, but won't be able to post until later tonight.

If you haven't done so already, check out the Color Throwdown blog at One of my good friends, and my SU! Grandmother, LeAnne Pugliese is one of the CTD Girls. Hey LeAnne!! Check out her blog at She's amazing!

Thanx for visiting!

What's in it?
  • Stamps: Upsy Daisy (SU!)
  • Paper: Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, WW, Urban Garden DSP
  • Ink: Old Olive, Regal Rose, Rose Red (SU! Markers)
  • Acc: 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch, Scotch Foam Mounting Tape

CC182 Monochromatic for Cassie

My 13 yr old son, Frankie, asked me to make a birthday card for his girlfriend, Cassie. I haven't played along with the challenges on SCS for awhile, so I jumped right in today! The Color Challenge is one of my favorites. I like being pushed out of my comfort zone .... a little bit ....when it comes to card making, anyway!! haha!

Frankie told me that Cassie's favorite color is pink, a girl after my own heart! Don't you just loovveee Cupcakeabella?!?! She's so girly and frilly and fabulous and just begging for glitter.

Sorry the picture isn't the clearest. I think it's almost time for a new camera. Gulp!

I used my Creative Memories Circle Cutting System for the three circles. On the Pixie Pink circle, I used my corner rounder to get the scalloped edge. The card base is Pretty in Pink and has Stampin' Up!'s Cupcake wheel along the bottom in PIP. I used three different kinds of glitter ... Red Romance, Dazzling Diamonds and Chunky Clear ....all SU! The sentiment is from PTI's Mixed Messages. The White Taffeta Ribbon is from SU! and is scrumptious. It's such a soft ribbon and ties like a dream!!

I don't know about any of you, but I'm so thrilled to have the kids back in school and on a routine!! No more, "I'm bored!" or "He's touching me!" or "What are we doing today?". Those comments make the daily question of, "What's for dinner?", seem like a breeze. Although, the dinner question still annoys me to no end. Sometimes, just sometimes, I miss the days of being little and having dinner made for me!!

Hope you are all enjoying your Tuesday! Thanx for visiting!!

Happy Day Uncle Wade!

Happy Labor Day Everyone!!

Long weekends are the best!! We have all been so lazy today. LOVE it!! We've gotta get our butts in gear now, though. My BIL's birthday is today and we are going to their house to celebrate. Here's the card I made to celebrate Wade's 41st!! I decorated the inside, as well. It's a shame that SU! retired the Jersey Shore DSP. It's fabulous and perfect for male cards. I think that seems to be the number one struggle for papercrafters ...male cards. Well, for me anyway!

Have a fabulous Labor Day! Until tomorrow....

What's in it?
  • Stamps: Short & Sweet, Bitty Basics (Hostess Level 1)

A Sad Farewell to Luci

My daughter, Jackie, is 16. She is an amazing person and I love her with all of my heart and soul!! Her boyfriend, Kyle, is also an amazing kid. They are so cute together!

Last week, Kyle's dog Luci had to be put to sleep. She had some recurring health issues and they felt it was the best thing for her. Such a selfless decision, probably one of the hardest to make!!

I made this sympathy card for Kyle and his family. There is no stamping involved. The picture is from when Luci was just a baby. She was a Boston Terrier and a great dog. Even Jackie, who isn't a dog person, loved her!! I know Kyle misses her every day.

This shows the inside of the card. The sentiment, inside and out, is printed on vellum cardstock. I found the poem from a pet website, can't find it again to link, though?!?! Grr!!! Hate when that happens.

Here's what the poem says...

Our animal friends teach us more than we expected,

And loved us more than we could have hoped.

That's why we miss them more

than we could have imagined.

With Sympathy and friendship,

especially during this time of loss.

Thanx for visiting!

Pool Party!

One of my friends commissioned me to make some party favors for her family picnic. I love doing 3-D items!

I love the Boxy Bag that Jody Morrow had on her blog.... They were so easy to make and turned out adorable, if I do say so myself! haha!!

I used a retired SU! Set for these, Life's a Breeze. It's a set I've always like, but didn't buy until it was retiring. Anyone else do that? Also, my Upline used it in a Shoebox Swap we did at our last meeting. It's true what they say, if you get a product in your hands and use it, you're more likely to buy it!! I also used some retired SU! DSP, Jersey Shore.

Thanx for visiting!

42 Years and Going Strong!

This is my first attempt at a shaker card. I made it for my FIL and MIL's 42nd Wedding Anniversary back in July. They are amazing people that have been like parents to me. I can not imagine my life without them!!

I'm slowly finding my way around Blogger. If anyone has any hints/tips, I would love to hear them!!

Thanx for visiting!

Give Me Five!

Well, I've finally done it ....jumped off the cliff into Blog Land! Please be gentle as I make my way around. I visit so many fabulous blog every day, I'm a bit intimidated!

This is the perfect card for my first post. I made it for my friend Anna's little boy, Elam. He's three years old and just learned to say, "Give me five" in English. Anna is one of my best friends and is also Amish. We met a little over a year ago and I adore her and her family!!

The reason this card is perfect for my first post is that all of my Amish friends call me Shayna Bay, not Shawn. Long story...but the nickname has stuck and those closest to me now call me Shayna Bay...which explains the name of my blog.

I hope you enjoy visiting and checking out what's going on in my little corner of Blog Land. I'm a little nervous, but excited too! Here's hoping you get some inspiration from me ...just as I have from the fabulous blogs I visit each day!!
