A Day Late ....

Hello! Here's a card I made for a friend of mine (Hi, Kristel!!). She commissioned me to make several Father's Day cards. This is a layout I got from Deb at ARTfelt Impressions. I loved this card she created awhile back....and just turned the layout a bit.

Kristel needed a golf card for her Dad or her FIL...can't remember which. This is the only golf image I have, from the retired set Sporting Goods. This set has saved me time and again when it comes to masculine cards. It's a shame that it's retired!

Hope you are all having a great day! It's gorgeous here in Southeastern PA ...warm, sunny, breezy, bright blue skies ....LOVE IT!!!

Thanx so much for visiting! Pop a comment if you have the time!! Smiles

Hey Chickies!! Hope you are all as happy about it being FRIDAY as I am!!! Wakka Wakka

My trip to Cape May was fabulous! It's always great to get together with the whole team ...especially since we are spread all over the map and work remotely. We had a fantastic time! After dinner last night, we played Taboo. I had never played before and LOVED it! A few times I thought for sure that I would pee my pants, I was laughing so hard!! Gotta love that!!

This card was made for my cousin's daughter ... Connie... for her 13th birthday. I was really excited with how it turned out. Pre-teen and early teens are hard ages to create for, in my opinion. I think this fit the bill!

I used up some American Crafts scraps I had (the label portion was already cut off, so i don't know the name...sorry!). I also used my MM Circle Cutting tool ...LOVE that!! This was one of my first attempts working with SU!'s Sticky Cuts. These are letters that are made out of the same material as Sticky Strip. They can be a bit tricky, but were easier to work with than I expected. LOVE, love, love glitter .....who doesn't, right?!?!

Well, I guess I should catch up from my two days out of the "office". I have about one month until my actual vacation in Sea Isle City, NJ. My Mom is lucky enough to have a friend that owns a condo in Sea Isle. This is the first year I will be able to take an entire week, though. Woohoo!! Hope the weather warms up by then.

As always, your visit and comments are very much appreciated. Have a fabulous weekend!!

On my way to Cape May ...on Hump Day!

Hello! Happy Hump Day!! I'm heading to Cape May, NJ today for my company's Annual Project Manager Summit. Woohoo!! Can't wait to see everyone again! Most of us work remotely (from home) and are spread across the United States. Although we talk and email often, it's great to get together face-to-face. This year our Manager wanted to focus on Team Building, so she rented a house in Cape May ...instead of the usual individual hotel rooms we would have. This way, we will be together all day/night ...cook meals together.....etc. Should be fun! A bit torturous, since we'll be just blocks from the beach, but will be working all day. *sigh!*
However, I'd rather be at the beach and working, then at home working.

I know, I know... you came to see a card. Sorry!! You know I love to "talk". Just can't help myself. *grin*

This adorable sock monkey was made for my youngest nephew, Ben. He turned TWO WHOLE HANDS (10) back in the beginning of May. For his birthday, he wanted to have all the family over and play kickball. About 5 years ago, we started playing kickball at my SIL Kelly's house during the nice weather. The kids love it ...almost as much as us adults!! I have always loved playing kickball ...since I was in 1st grade!!

Again, on with the card info... sorry!! Embarrassed 1

I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the Pumpkin Pie cardstock so it looks like a kickball (playground ball). Then I used my xacto knife to make a slit along the monkey's arm, so I could slide the little kickball under his arm. Too cute!!

Don't have time for ingredients today (again). Please leave a comment if you have any questions.

As always, thanx for visiting my little corner of blog land! Leave a comment and let me know you stopped by!! Enjoy your day!

Hello! Wow, it's amazing how quick Mondays roll around, isn't it?!?! Seems like the older I get, the closer the Mondays get. Blech!

This is the first full week of summer vaca for my kids. My oldest will be a senior next year. GULP!!! I can't even believe it!! My middle one will be a freshman!! And my youngest will be 5th grader!! Where did this time go?!?!

The youngest is already BORED ... every day I hear it at least once. Fun!! I work from home, as a recruiter. So, Ryan thinks that b/c he can see me, I'm available to him 24/7. Again, FUN!! I promised to take him to the library this afternoon.....gotta keep this quick.

This card was made for a friend/neighbor's son, Robert. His graduation party a couple of weekends ago....and we had a BLAST! A little too much fun, actually ...if there is such a thing!!

Don't have time for the recipe right now. If you have any questions, shoot me an email or leave a comment. Actually, leave a comment anyway .... it's nice to know people are visiting (besides Liz and LeAnne!!) Thanx girls!!

Have a great day and thanx for visiting!!

Hi there! This card is a CASE from the Occasions Mini. I hesitated on getting this set, until I saw all the amazing cards made with it on SCS and in BlogLand. haha! It really is a fabulous set! I love this size, too. I've never made cards this size before, even though I've had this size envie for a few years. Imagine that, a stamper that hoards goodies!?!?! Why, I never!!

I'm keeping this short, since I'm having friends over tonight. I have a million things to get done before the party .... and, as usual, I've left many things until the last minute. Why do I do this to myself?!?

Thanx for visiting!! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Soccer Thanx!

Hello! Happy Tuesday!! These cards were made for my son's soccer coaches, Coach Modderman and Coach Justin. They coached the U16-U19 Spring Soccer team this year. Although the boys didn't win any games, they had a blast together and played well.

I tend to struggle with plain, masculine cards. However, these came together rather quickly! Woohoo!!

I embossed the soccer cleats with SU!'s detail black EP. The black/gold panel is raised up on mounting tape. You gotta love those JUMBO eyelets for masculine cards!! Well, I love them ....maybe you don't?!?! haha!

The extra panel on the inside was to give the whole team room to sign their names. Even though this looks kinda orange, the card base is Morning Marigold. Our school colors are gold (yellowish) and black.

Their last game was this past Saturday away game ....and they lost. Boo!! Oh well, they'll do better in the fall ...and next spring.

Thanx so much for visiting! Have a great Tuesday!!

Cupcakes for Lily!

Happy Monday (oxymoron!). This post is a bit late, but it's been one of those days know, a MONDAY. Ack!?!?!

A good friend of mine (hi Kristel!) is one of my bestest card customers. Truth be told, she is the bestest!! She recently placed a hefty order. One of the cards she needed was for her daughter, Lily's, birthday. Lily is a trip!! She is so stinkin' cute!!! This cutie patootie cupcake card was made with her in mind.

It follows the Mojo Monday sketch 89 from last week, shown here....

Here's a shot of the inside. Everyone is decorating the inside of their cards these days. Only trouble is how expensive postage has gotten ....and continues to get! I knew that Kristel wasn't mailing this card, so I was worried about the tiny bit of extra weight.

Thanx for visiting!! As always, your comments are much appreciated!!

Soul ... Art .... Challenges

Hello! Sit down, this may be shocking.... I completed a sketch challenge on the SAME DAY it was posted!!!! Well, wonders never cease!

Karen Giron is one of my favorite stampers. If you haven't visited her amazing blog, check it out here. This card is for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 21.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my card:

This will be given to my son's Art Teacher, Mr. Phillips. He has been really great with Frankie this year....encouraging him and pushing him to do so much with his artwork. Mr. Phillips also runs a weekly after-school Art Club every Friday. The kids love it! My oldest, Jackie, was in Art Club when she was in 8th grade, too.

I hope to have posts all week. Stay tuned and let me know you're checking in .....I love to read your comments!!

Fashionably Late ..... story of my life!

Hello! Seriously, "Fashionably Late" is my motto. I hate it, though! You would think that as much as it bothers me to be late, I would take measures to end the insanity. Nope! I have no explanation, no excuse, no idea what the problem is either! My life-long explanation has been that my parents worked night shift from the time I was a baby until I was about four years old. When they got home at 12:30AM, it was our day time. Messed me up for life, I tell ya!!

I know what you're thinking, on to the card already!!

This was created (actually CASEd) for one of our close friends' daughter, Ali. She is a great girl who turned 14 in April. She loves horses and is somewhat of a tom-boy, yet very girlie at the same time.

I hope to have some new projects in the next few days. I recently purchased some Nesties and can't wait to play!!!! Also, I finally got the Top Note and Beautiful Butterflies dies from SU! Fun projects on the horizon....I promise!

Gorgeous RAK!!

Hello Everyone! Long time, no chat ... no post... no pics.... I know, I know. I'm trying!! Blushy

Check out this gorgeous RAK I received from Kim Evans....

If you haven't come across her blog yet, you MUST go check it out! Kim and I are actually related, Stampin' Up! style. Big Smile Her upline, Penny McCallum, is my Great-Grandmother. It's a small, small world!

Kim, thanx for the fun card! I love getting happy mail ....especially hand-made cards!!! This will hold a special place in my stamp room!

I'm hoping to get time to stamp today. I have some goodies coming from SU! and can't wait to get my hands on them!!!!

A little birdie told me......

Yesterday I was telling you about my MIL's surprise 60th birthday party. These are the invites that I made. I think this sketch is from a SCS Challenge, but can't remember for sure. Either SCS or Mojo Monday. In an case, these were made for the par*tay!

I absolutely LOVE paper piecing with this stamp set. For those of you who aren't sure what that means....paper piecing is when you stamp the image twice; once on white card stock and then again on designer paper. You cut out all or part of the image and glue it to the stamped white piece. That's how I got my little birdie to be pink with polka dots!! Cool, huh?!? Teethy It's definitely one of m favorite techniques....and this set is perfect for it!!

Don't have much time today. Shoot me an email if you need the recipe. Thanx for visiting! Post you tomorrow!!

Do the Humpty Hump!!

Happy Hump Day Everyone!! Now you'll have that old 80's song stuck in your head ...hahaha!! Sorry!! Blushy 2

This card kinda took on a life of it's own. I made this for my MIL's 60th (obviously) birthday. I CASEd this card from Vera on SCS. Here is her card. I'm afraid the patterns took over a bit on my version!! This Bella Rose DSP from SU! has always reminded me of my MIL, though. She used to have this gorgeous comforter with these huge cabbage roses on it. Remember when they were all the rage?!? Back in the early 90's. Anyway, it is what it is .... hope she liked it!!

We had a surprise party for her at my SIL's house. It was really fun!! She knew something was up, but thought it was later in the day. So, we almost surprised her. It was a really fun party. There was a great mix of people there, friends, neighbors, "old" friends and family. My SIL really out did herself with some awesome little quiches. Delish!! Everything looked great and the food was fabulous. My MIL, JoAnn, is so fun to do things for ...she's the best "gift receiver" ...if you know what I mean. She is so grateful and enthusiastic!! One year, for Christmas, I made her a cross-stitch of an Amish Quilting party. I spent a couple of months working on it and then had it framed. JoAnn cried when she opened it!! Let me tell you..... that was worth all the hours of work I put into that cross-stitch. Not that I wanna make her cry!!! But she also does cross-stitch, so she knows the time it took. As far as MILs go, I hit the jackpot!! I've known the O'Connell family since I was 11 years old ... that's 27 years!!! GULP!!! JoAnn's been like a mother to me! I'm so blessed to have them all in my life.

Okay, enough sentimental blithering! Sorry!! I could go on and on and on......

Have a great Wednesday! Do your best ...that's all anyone can ask for, right?!? Post you tomorrow....thanx for visiting!!

Green Beer ..... In April?!?

No, I haven't lost it ...although the jury's still out on that one! I made this card ....or a similar verison of it.. for a co-worker (hey Mike!) back in March. His birthday is on St. Patrick's Day. The original card was mailed on March 11th, to allow for plenty of delivery time. Mike never got the card! GULP!!! The horror!! Electric After all that time and energy and paper and ink. Sob!!!Teary

Well, it turned out to be okay in the end. Why? Because the second card I made turned out even better!! Woohoo!!

I wish I would've moved the bear and the circle down a bit more, but other than that, I'm happy with how it turned out. The bear is stamped twice...once on Close to Cocoa and once on Creamy Caramel. The bear's nose/mouth is popped up on dimensionals. The beer is stamped on vellum cardstock and then embossed with clear EP. Then I used Liquid Applique for the foam on top of the beer. I even let it dry overnight before using the heat gun to puff it up!! Patience has never been my thing, but this time it was worth the wait.

Gotta run! Thanx for visiting!!

One, Two, Three...

Last month my cousin Bob's son, Nicholas, turned three. Bob and his family live in Plano, TX so we rarely see each other. In fact, I've never met Nicholas! Bob's Mom Aunt Sandy.... lives in Memphis, TN. She is one of my bestest friends!! I can always turn to her for advice, a laugh, a shoulder to cry on, or a kick in the butt when I know I need it!! In fact, my Aunt Sandy is the person who got me hooked on sending cards. As a little girl, I LOVED getting mail....what little kid doesn't, right?!? Aunt Sandy always lived far away (I think she said they moved 19 times in 23 years, or something close to that). Even though we weren't physically close, I've always shared a very close bond with her. My Mom has even commented that I have some of my Aunt Sandy's traits. I should be so lucky, as she's someone I'd like to be when I grow up. Of course, she and I would both have to agree to grow up in the first place!! haha!!

The inspiration for this card came from page 72 of the Spring & Summer catty. I loved the colors they used on the dinosaur card, as well as the big circles along the bottom. I didn't have any small chipboard numbers, so I had to use a "big" number. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Although I've been collecting (read "hoarding") chipboard for quite some time, I've only recently begun to use it. Shame, shame!! I LOVE IT! It really adds some pizazz to the card. I hope Nicholas loved getting some fun mail and that he had a great birthday!!

Hope you all have a great Sunday! Thanx for visiting!!

At first I was afraid.... I was petrified.......

...but, I made it through my dental procedures like a big girl!! Didn't even shed a tear!! When Dr. Patti told me the remaining procedures I need and how much they would cost ...well, then I cried a little. Kidding! I waited until I got in the car. GULP!! Dental work is EXPENSIVE!!!!

Again, I digress.... onto the card...

This card was made for one of my oldest friends, Bill. We've known each other since I was in 9th grade ....which was 1984!! Feels like just yesterday?!?! He's getting married in August. We just met his bride-to-be, Emily, a few weeks ago. She is great! Also, she is brave. Why, you ask? Because she's marrying Bill. No, I'm kidding!! Because she met all of us (the old high school crowd) at Bob's 40th Birthday Party.....where we were all drinking and being rowdy! She was a champ, though!! We all really liked her and are so happy for Bill!

This is the inside of the card. The engagement ring is embossed in Silver, has Dazzling Diamonds on it and is popped up on dimensionals. Like a ding-bat, I forgot to take the picture of the inside before I wrote in the card. DUH!?! So, I photo-shopped the writing out. Sorry for the messy pic!

Well, I'm off to Frankie's soccer game this morning. Woohoo!! Have I mentioned how much I love watching my boy play SOCCER?!? Then, tonight I am meeting some girlfriends to go see "Obsessed" ...the new movie with Beyonce and Ali Larder. It looks Fabulous!! Can't wait to see it.

Have a great weekend! Thanx for visiting!!

Gonna be a doozie!!

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Wish me luck, folks! As you read this, I will be in the dentist's chair (breathe, Shawn, you can do it!) having a tooth pulled. However, that's not the worst of it......
I'm also having Root Planing & Scaling done to the left side of my mouth. Shocked 1 How horrible does that sound?!?! If only I could just be put under! Ponder

Okay, so anyway.... I know you don't come to this blog to hear my own personal drama (or maybe you do?!?). On to the card....

The inspiration for this card came from page 19 of the Occasions Mini. The card shown was only the small brown part. I decided to make it a 5.25 x 5.25 card. I love this size!! There's just something classy about a square card?!? Anyone else feel that way?

The receptionist, Karen, at my dentist's office is so, so sweet and helpful!! Her birthday is today ...the same day as my torture.... I mean treatment. NervousShe happened to mention it to me when she was scheduling my appointment. Of course, being the card freak that I am, I made a mental note to make her a card. It's always so nice when the office staff is helpful. It's very apparent that Karen loves her job and working with people!! Wish the world was full of more people like that!!

Send up a prayer for me, please. I should be out of that horrible chair by Noon EST. Dear GOD, please don't let it take any longer!!!!

Thanx for visiting!!

Strange beginnings.....

Well, this morning I woke up early ...before the alarm went off... this NEVER happens. The sun was streaming in my windows, I could hear the birds chirping outside. Ahhhhh, what a wonderful way to start a day. I decided to read for a little bit. Firefly Lane is a fabulous book and I'm more than half-way through. After about 15 minutes it hit me's NOT's TUESDAY!!!!! GULP!! Embarrassed That's just wrong! Where did the idea that it was Saturday come from?!?!? Needless to say, I jumped out of bed to wake Ryan for school. Thank God my older two (Jackie & Frankie) get up and get themselves out the door!! Jeeeeezzzzz!?!?!?!

So, onto the reason you are here...the card. Painter

I made this card for my niece, Kayla. She won the Spelling Bee at her school!! She is in 5th grade and the participants were as old as 8th grade!! Isn't that amazing?! GO KAYLA!!! Bounce She is great kid and I'm proud to be her Aunt. They live a little more than an hour away, so I don't get to see her as much as I'd like. Kayla is also an avid stamper!! I'll have to post some of her work soon.

I CASEd this card from someone on SCS, but can't find it right now?! Sorry!! If it's your original creation, please let me know so I can give you credit.

Have a great Saturday....I mean TUESDAY..haha!! Thanx for visiting!!

Good Sunday Morning! Have you guys seen the gorgeous new sets from PTI?!?! My order should be here in a couple of days. I got the new Tea for Two set from Nichole, as well as the Scattered Showers and Background Basics: Spots & Dots. I cannot wait to tear into them!!! Check out the new sets at Papertrey Ink. Prepare to fall in love!

This card was done for one of my dearest friend's, Tammy's, daughter. Molly turned NINE on April 2nd. Seems like yesterday that I was visiting Tammy in the hospital back in 2000!!! I know I say it often, but where is all this time going so quickly?!?!

I had a blast making this card. Recently, I have gotten into using chipboard letters and numbers. I love covering them with DSP or embossing them. There are many sheets of chipboard in my stash .... have been for a few years.... this is the first that I've used them. Shame, shame, I know! You can be sure I will be getting them out more and more. I really like the touch they add to a card. Only bummer is that they require extra postage when mailing. But what's another 20 cents?!? I mean really, in the scheme of things .... 20 cents isn't going to make or break me! haha!! I used the Round Tab punch to create a mat for the bunny image. I punched two tabs in Pumpkin Pie, cut them each in half and taped them to the back of the circle to create a pinwheel/flower look. I've never tried this before, but like how it turned out. Those punches are priceless!!

Thanx so much for stopping by! Enjoy your Sunday!!

WOW! What a unbelievably gorgeous day we had here in Lancaster County, PA!!! My middle son, Frankie, had his first soccer game of the Spring season. They were winning 3-1 for the first half...but lost 5-3 in the end. Bummer! But how exciting to be back on the sidelines hootin' and hollerin' for my boy and his teammates. I LOVE SOCCER!! Frankie is very good and enjoys it tremendously. He even enjoys me cheering them on at the top of my voice...which shocked me!!

This card was CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from Jodi Collins (aka: Kharmagirl on SCS). Check out her card here.

I changed the colors, but kept the same layout and images. I made several of these belated bday cards. How pathetic is it that I can still manage to be late for birthdays....when I have an entire room dedicated to stamping cards?!?! Crazy, I know!

Hope you all enjoyed your Saturday. Here's hoping that Sunday is just as delish!! Thanx for visiting!!

Say It Ain't So!!

One of my oldest friends (in terms of length of friendship ...and now age! haha!) just turned 40! He's the first of our immediate group of friends to hit this milestone. It just sounds wrong!!! His wife, Tammy, and I became fast friends. She was the second girl into our group and I was so happy to have another female to pal around with!! Don't get me wrong, I love hanging with the guys ...probably more than the girls, since there's less drama.. but it was very nice to have another girl in the group!

We had a blast at his 40th Surprise Birthday Party! A lot of old friends came that we don't really see anymore. It was great!! Poor Bob suffered for a couple of days afterwards. You know you had a good time when you pay for it for days!! haha!!

I CASEd this card from one of my favorite papercrafters, Dawn Easton. If you haven't already done so, you MUST check out her blog Treasure Oiler Designz. She is amazing! Here's the card I CASEd. I was very, very happy with how it turned out. Dawn is an inspiration to many!!

It's another rainy, yucky day in Southeastern PA. Woohoo!! Hope you are enjoying the weather where ever you may be. Me? I'm praying for sunshine!! Thanx for visiting!!

New 'do ... and a card.....

I just can not believe that it's already Good Friday?!?! Where is 2009 going?!?! Before we know it, it'll be Labor Day. I know, I know....shut up already!! haha!!

After visiting the dark side for a few months, I've decided to go back to blonde. Well, I'm on my way the very least. One more visit to my "Main Operator" (haha....Hannah!!) and I will be even more blonde! Woohooo! Bring on the sunshine!!]

This card was CASEd from the SU! Spring-Summer 2009 100. I loved the Branch Out set the minute I saw it. I think the tire swing image is what got me. Funny, since I haven't even used that stamp in the set yet. My in-laws had a tire swing in their front yard when I first met them.... I was 11 yrs old at the time!! Kelly (my BFF then, now my SIL!!) and I loved to swing on that tire swing!! Except when we would forget to dump the water out after it rained...yuck!! haha!

Anyway, I used the same layout, just switched up the colors a bit and changed the sentiment. This was the first time I tried to make my sentiment "flag" pop up, like I've seen so many others do. Well, the first time isn't so great!! haha! I've done it since this card with much more success!!

Hope you all have a fantabulous, wonderful Easter!! Thanx for visiting!!

Hello Everyone! It's been a few days .... I know. I'm trying to post daily, but it's so time-consuming. Wah-wah-wah, right!?

Anyway, this card was CASEd from Karen Giron's awesome card for one of Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration challenges. Check out Karen's awesome blog ... the sweetest thing. The only changes I made were to the DSP and making it a standard size card vs. a square card. I made several of them to have on hand. One of my favorite things about stamping is having a stash of cards to send out at a moments notice cheer someone up, congratulate them, wish them well, etc....

I love the bright colors on the black background. It really makes them pop! Hope you're all enjoying these first few weeks of Spring. In Southeastern PA it's cold and windy. It's supposed to get down to 36 tonight!?! ENOUGH already!! I'd love, love, love a warm Easter Sunday outside playing ...adults enjoying each other's company and some quiet time inside!! haha!!

Thanx so much for visiting!!

I Can See Clearly Now.....

....the RAIN IS GONE!! Now you'll be singing this song all day...haha! Finally, it's sunny in southeastern PA!! Woohoo!! Go SUNSHINE!! It's very, very windy ..but I'll take it.

I just got done mowing the front yard (my son did the back) and edging all the sidewalks and flowers beds. Looks great, feels fantastic to get out and do yard work...and it smells great. I love the smell of fresh cut grass.

This card was made for our friends, the Conklin's. They got a new puppy a few weeks ago. He is a Shepadoodle....yes, part German Shepard, part Poodle. His name is Larry!!! He is too, too cute!!

The layout is from Mojo Monday Sketch #77 a few weeks back. If you ever need sketch inspiration, this is the site for you!! They post a new sketch every Monday. Check it out here.

Well, I'm off to enjoy my weekend! Hope you enjoy yours too! See you on Monday!! Thanx for visiting.
